Beautiful Days featured in Seacoast Weddings Magazine

How over the top excited am I to see Beautiful Days’ work on the cover of the winter issue of Seacoast Weddings?! Last spring fantastic wedding photographer Geneve Hoffman reached out to me about collaborating on a shoot at the historic Wentworth Gardner house in Portsmouth, New Hampshire. As soon as I saw the house there was NO way I wasn’t going to have a good time in there! The architectural details are amazing and the house was a wedding gift in 1760 - how perfect! Geneve and I gathered an amazing team of seacoast wedding professionals and created a wedding inspiration shoot that included three looks and all kinds of fabulous details. And bonus – a fantastic Beautiful Days Newagen Seaside Inn wedding is featured as well!

Bonus! One our favorite weddings from 2011 was featured in the real weddings section of the magazine as well! Carolena and Phil’s gorgeous Newagen Seaside Inn wedding was full of beautiful details set against a perfect ocean side backdrop. Beautiful Days worked with the couple on select planning, day of coordination, design, flowers and decor…all perfectly captured by J of Emilie Inc Photography. We’ll be sure to post more photos soon!

Maine. the Magazine 2012 Wedding Issue

I was so excited to be asked by Maine. the magazine to design and create a wedding inspiration shoot to be featured in their 2012 wedding issue! Beautiful Days assembled a fantastic group vendors and the end result was a true collaboration of inspired wedding pros who know what is takes to create amazing celebrations in Maine. Every last detail was just fabulous…the spot on 40′s pin up inspired hair and make up, the stunning dresses, the chic table settings, scrumptious sweets and treats, the get down on it vibe of the DJ, the perfect print pieces and paper details, the eye popping estate jewelry, slammin’ shoes, the perfect raw warehouse setting, and of course the flowers and custom decor, design and details from Beautiful Days. Photographer Brea McDonald not only captured it all amazingly but also helped with resourcing details and defining the design direction. As a bonus Meg Simone was on hand to film all the behind the scenes details…be sure to check out the film as the end of the post. A Spring Baby Shower!

It goes with out saying that I love all of my brides! Designing and creating special floral arrangements and party decor for their wedding celebrations is truly an honor. It is extra special when I get to be part of more of their beautiful days! This past spring I was fortunate enough to create a bright, modern and crafty baby shower for dear bride Sarah. I had a ton of fun playing around with bold colors, a mix of fabrics and some local, handmade pottery.

The fabric swags added that extra layer of joy to the festive occasion. I worked with local potter Amy Clark of Ocean Fire Pottery to create these custom white clay vase trios for the centerpieces…perfect for highlighting simple groupings of yellow spring flowers. The vases were then given to VIPs at the end of the party.

Yup that’s me mixing up the party’s cocktail of prosecco, limoncello, and lemonade. It’s no wonder ranunculus are a favorite flower for so many – how it fits soooo many petals in one flower bud is beyond me! Guests were asked to write down some words of mama wisdom which were then read aloud after lunch -yes there were a few tears but alot of laughs too!

I had to include this photo of my gift to Sarah – my son’s gently worn Converses increase the gift wrapping cuteness factor by at least 10! The fresh lemon slices of the party cocktail fit right in with the party’s color scheme of course!

The napkins at each place setting were wrapped with strips of fabric used in the ceiling swags adding another punch of color. I LOVE how clean the vases are and that you can see the texture of Amy’s hand work in the clay from throwing them on the wheel.

The guests were invited to decorate onsesis and burp clothes which a new mama cannot have enough of!

The day really was lovely and the space at the Brixham General Store was the perfect location…sunny, bright and open…and Brixham catered a delicious luncheon for the ladies.
Congratulations to you and your beautiful family Sarah! I hope I’m around for the next celebration!!!

Beautiful Days in WellWed Magazine!

Late into last winter Heidi Lynne of White Loft Studio and I bundled up and braved the elements to create a wedding inspiration shoot that was warm and romantic against the white back drop of winter. We loved what we did and are so pleased that Well Wed magazine loved it enough to put it in their 2011 Fall Winter Cape & Islands issue! Here’s a peek at the spread.

I love day dreaming about perfect wedding celebrations…when the setting, vibe, flowers, table settings, dress, food, and lighting all come together it is a flawless moment. I was so fortunate to create one of those moments at Snug Harbor Farm in Kennebunk, Maine. Balmy greenhouses filled with lush plants and trimmed to perfection topiaries, intriguing garden ornaments, exotic birds and captivating backdrops make Snug Harbor such a special and unique setting. I collaborated with some of the finest wedding and event professionals in Maine and New Hampshire who made this wedding inspiration shoot a dreamy reality! A reminder to anyone planning a celebration that you can dream all you want but to really make it come together you need to surround yourself with people who are true professionals, committed to making your inspiration come to life.

One last look at winter…Maine wedding inspiration

For some it is hard to get inspired towards the end of a Maine winter – we are ready for warmer days, sunnier skies and to see some green! But the drama, beauty and textures of winter can be captivating. Inspired by the late winter sun reflecting off of ice glazed snow fields and the tall once green wheat brown grasses that edge the rivers we created this romantic and melancholy wedding scene on a perfect winter day that hints at the spring days to come.

Seaside Wedding Inspiration, Kittery, Maine

It’s easy to day dream about sunny summer weddings and celebrations in the middle of Maine winters but sometimes a cold day on the beach towards the end of winter is the prefect backdrop for something fabulous! Inspired by a single image that Brea McDonald had been holding onto Brea, Sara O’Brien and I came together to create a romantic, melancholy and moody scene depicting a setting that seemed as if it was washed onto shore. It was a true collaboration and half the fun was sitting around my dining room table with Brea and Sara developing our design direction! The collection of found objets, vintage treasures, barn board table top over ivory burlap, oh so fantastic invites, place cards, and vow booklets by Sara, soft and romantic flowers accented by seaweed, and a gorgeous dress from Occasions Bridal of Portsmouth, NH all came together on the perfect grey -blue day on the beach.

The day was captured on film by the very cool and adventurous Meg Simone…love a girl who’s not afraid to get her boots wet! Check out the video here!

The shoot was even published by the always inspirational Well Wed magazine – whoo-hoo!
