Taste of the Nation, Portsmouth, NH
Thursday, December 2nd, 2010This past June Beautiful Days once again took part in decorating the VIP tent for the annual Share Our Strength Seacoast‘s Taste of the Nation fundraising event in Portsmouth, New Hampshire. The goal of Share Our Strength is to end child hunger in our communities. During the holidays, a time of abundance and indulgence, warmth and love, it is easy to overlook the many children who will not celebrate around a table overflowing with food and whose daily basic nutritional needs are not met.
It is truly an honor to be part of such a crucial cause in our community. The theme for the VIP tent was local, seasonal food highlighted by foods framed in old windows, a farmer’s table highlighting the offerings of the season, greens potted up from my garden and a farmer’s porch. Enjoy and be inspired to do your part to end child hunger in your neighborhood.
Be sure to get your tickets for the 2011 event! It’s a great way to start off the summer and always a fantastic gathering!
Special thanks to Geneve Hoffman for the fabulous photos!
Get inspired by women filmmakers!
Wednesday, December 1st, 2010A woman alone can be a creative and brilliant motivator, artist, business person, wife, mother, teacher, mentor…but put 42 super talented and creative women filmmakers together and watch out! Check out this fantastic film “Women Create” and get inspired and empowered (and even a little teary - I did!) I am honored to share this with you and especially proud of amazing photographer Brea McDonald and equally amazing filmmaker Meg Simone for being a part of it.
Beautiful Days featured on fantastic blogs!
Monday, October 25th, 2010Creating gorgeous floral designs and unique and thoughtful event design is a work of love! I am truly honored when our work is recognized as lovely and inspiring by others. Some of Beautiful Days’ work has been recently highlighted in two great blogs so distract yourself for a few minutes and check them out!
The lovely Kittery, Maine seaside inspiration shoot is on the fabulous Grey Likes Weddings. Dreamy, vintage seaside story with Sara O’Brien of Griffin-vites and Brea McDonald.
And bridal shower perfection with pink and white flowers and gold accents on The Sweetest Occasion! Loved collaborating with Sam at Gus & Ruby Letterpress to help create the fantastic florals for her best friend (and business partner) Whitney’s celebration at Blue Sky in York, Maine. Captured perfectly (as always!) by Emilie Sommer.
Fall foliage in Maine
Monday, October 18th, 2010The Beautiful Days wedding season is complete and before I gear up for the fast approaching holidays it’s time to sit back and take in the gorgeous colors and textures of fall. Always collecting, I keep my eye out for the first sign of orange bittersweet vines, the perfect gourds and pumpkins to be put on display at Zach’s farm stand and the the last bits of color and interest from my garden. This fall I decorated the front of the house with a fantastic assortment of pumpkins, vines, and gourds with some of my favorite variegated grasses and some bright lights swiss chard. And the lantern shapes of the green tomatillos are perfection paired with ferns that are turning a golden brown and the last little sunflowers. Make sure to take some time on one of these gorgeous fall days to collect some seasonal color and texture for your house!

Maine Wedding Inspiration – Snug Harbor Farm
Friday, September 17th, 2010I love exploring, hunting, gathering and being inspired by the many special places and people in Maine. One unique setting is Snug Harbor Farm in Kennebunk, Maine , a nursery that houses an eclectic mix of stunning topiaries, garden ornaments and perfect finds for the home and garden. I have fantasized about how perfect a wedding celebration would be in the greenhouses! With the blessing of the gracious and talented owner Tony Elliot I was able to create a celebration setting in one of the greenhouses last spring! The super talented photographer Heidi Lynne of White Loft Studio in Newburyport loves Snug Harbor as much as I do and together we put together a photo shoot that was a breath of fresh air! We gathered some of the best wedding vendors in Maine and New Hampshire and the results were fantastic! Photos are coming soon – in the meantime Lynne Valerie of VideoDesign Films captured the shoot wonderfully! Enjoy…and be inspired!!!
I can’t say enough about all the fabulous and talented vendors that helped this shoot be such a success!

Seaside Photo Shoot
Wednesday, April 28th, 2010Back in February super talented photographer Brea McDonald contacted me about collaborating on a photo shoot. I of course jumped at the chance to work with her! She had a photo for inspiration that was a gorgeous, moody range of romantic blues and we started brainstorming from there. Sara O’Brian the lovely and amazingly inspired custom watercolor invitation and paper notions creator of Griffin-vites was part of the party too. Between the three of us we came up with the romantic yet melancholy story of a mermaid waiting for her sea captain to arrive for their wedding celebration. The scene was set on the beach where the table was made up of shipwrecked items that floated to the shore. Vintage silver, antique glasses and china, found objects, simple flowers accented with seaweed and a driftwood table top were just some of the elements that helped create an amazing vignette. The fantastic photos from Brea are coming soon. For now you can see the process of the design, set up and the shoot captured so wonderfully on film by Meg Simone. Special thanks to Ashley at Occasions Bridal for the stunning dress!
One last look at winter…
Monday, April 5th, 2010I know Spring is officially here but I can’t help to take one last look at winter! We have a little pond behind the house and this winter we got lucky enough to have perfect ice skating conditions which means ice skating party! This was also a great opportunity for my good friend and fantastic photographer Geneve Hoffman and I to put our new venture of custom designed and styled family photo sessions to test. The results were precious! I had so much fun enjoying one of the last days of winter with dear friends and family skating as the sun went down and then snacking on warm treats in front of the bon fire.

Homemade berry muffins wrapped in parchment paper (inspired by Martha Stewart of course!), homemade marshmallows to top of hot chocolate, popcorn in bags decorated with snowflake stamps (we do get crafty around here!), vintage mason jars packed with snow made perfect candle holders, twinkle lights over the pond and a blazing bon fire were some of the just right special details that made everyone happy. But what truly made this a beautiful day was the gathering of friends and family on one of the last great days of winter!
Special thanks to Geneve for capturing the festivities. If you are interested in a custom family portrait session you can reach Geneve at LuminaLife.com. It would truly be our pleasure to help you and your family create and capture a very special day in your lives.
