Beautiful Days Featured in Country Living Magazine

Wednesday, January 9th, 2013

Country Living Magazine reached out to me last year about shooting a family sledding party and oh boy what fun we had! It’s no secret that I love a good party and I am a sucker for a gathering that includes family fun and plenty of special details and that’s exactly what we did last winter at my house. Somehow we managed to get just enough snow and a beautiful day as the back drop for an afternoon of little ones running around in the snow, indulging in sweets and treats for young and old and finishing the day around a big bon fire.

It was an amazing experience working with the fabulous and creative team at Country Living especially Jourdan Fairchild  who first saw our work on The Sweetest Occasion blog and wrote the feature. The photographer John Dolan is truly an amazing talent and made us all feel so comfortable as he captured the day. I learned so much from the equally amazing food stylist Alison Attenborough. And I was fortunate enough to have my first “stylist” credit -working along side the editors at the magazine to develop the look, feel and special details of the shoot – I think the hand stenciled linen table cloth was one of my favorite projects! But some of the most special details were the sweaters worn by Wyatt and three of his cousins that were knit by their great grandma. And we have all had a good laugh at the fact that my brother’s dog stole the show! Be sure to grab your copy and get inspired for your family fun this winter!
A very special thanks to Beautiful Days’ Tyler McGinley for helping me keep everything together all day and to Lucky Bums for loaning out the perfect toboggans.
Cannot wait to do it again…I’m already conjuring up thoughts of a summer family bash that includes homemade lemonade, fruit ices, water balloon games and a hike through the woods for a swim in the pond!
The shoot is also the first look at my work as a stylist for print production which is a service that will be offered through our new sister biz Maine Prop House. Check it out  and stay tuned for more from Maine Prop!

Gold & Glittery Holidays Beautiful Days Style

Thursday, January 3rd, 2013

I love the holidays! They are an opportunity for me to dive into decorating the house for a month full of festivities with family and friends. This year I kicked everything off with my annual ladies only holiday party which is always a blast. I spend so much time in the wedding season planning other people’s parties that I always look forward to finally having the time to entertain at my place. This year I kept it gold, glittery and earthy.

The gold and silver foil stars were perfect hanging from the beams, sparkling away as they caught the candlelight.

“Merry Everything” is just the perfect sentiment for the time of year…spelled out in gold glitter of course!

I fell in love with the combination of the evergreens, grapevine accents and magnolia leafs with pops of gold pine cones.

My glittery deer are always out for the holidays… they put me in the spirit right away.

Keeping warm by the fire gets a little cozier with more candles!

Thank goodness my husband is always game to take on hanging decorations from the beams! I couldn’t do it with out him!

On the menu? Prosecco, tequila and St Germaine punch.

I painted some driftwood pieces with some gold acrylic paint to continue the earthy vibe while still keeping the festive golden glow.

I definitely get busy in the kitchen and love making bites like herbed cheese, pickled beets and pea shoots on endive delights – they tasted as good as they looked!

Can’t wait for next year!

MANY thanks to the super talented Brea McDonald for coming a little early to light the candles and take the beautiful photos!

One last look at winter…Maine wedding inspiration

Monday, March 14th, 2011

For some it is hard to get inspired towards the end of a Maine winter – we are ready for warmer days, sunnier skies and to see some green! But the drama, beauty and textures of winter can be captivating. Inspired by the late winter sun reflecting off of ice glazed snow fields and the tall once green wheat brown grasses that edge the rivers we created this romantic and melancholy wedding scene on a perfect winter day that hints at the spring days to come.
I care not for the stars that shine
Dare not hope to e’er be thine
Only know I love you
Love me, and the world is mine
