A Camden, Maine Wedding

Monday, May 7th, 2012

Camden, Maine is such a picture perfect setting for a Maine wedding and I was so thrilled to provide the wedding flowers and be the day of coordinator for this very special celebration. Shawna and Tim were married in the gorgeous Camden Public Library amphitheater followed by an amazing wedding reception at the Camden Harbour Inn. Read on to take in all the beauty and fun!

What a view! David Murray captured the mood of the wedding morning perfectly. And how chic is the Inn? At over 100 years old it’s been brought into the 21st century with modern touches and luxurious details while still being true to it’s history.

While it rained on and off all day somehow the misty sun came out just at the right time. I literally watched the weather radar during the ceremony showing rain to the north and south of us…Shawn and Tim had the only sliver of sunlight on the coast! The bride and groom said their “I do’s” under a birch arbor they made which I decorated with dogwood tree clippings and soft green vines.

As always David Murray captures all the moments perfectly!

I adored creating Shawna’s bridal bouquet! She wanted something elegant yet earthy, lush with a bit of wild..I used white peonies, green hydrangeas, mini calla lilies, flowering dogwood, false orange and ferns…perfect for this early June wedding.

The Inn had this amazing large buddha hand sculpture on the porch and I couldn’t resist hanging my offering of a floral garland. The flowers through out the inn and on the dining tables were textural, a little wild, a lot of green, with pops of red and purple.

The Inn’s sun porch was used to showcase the amazing blue grass band, High Range, that played during the cocktail hour.

The Inn served an amazing cocktail style dinner with five different food stations -each one delectable! Really the food is amazing but guests also indulged in family made sweets and treats. Following cocktails and dinner DJ Steve Carrigan took over and  Shawna and Tim and their nearest and dearest celebrated into the wee hours of the night. It was truly my pleasure to be a part of it!!!

Prouts Neck, Maine Rehearsal Dinner

Sunday, April 29th, 2012

It was so much fun for Beautiful Days to be a part of Lucy and Rawle’s fabulous Prouts Neck, Maine wedding (which you can see here!) and it was a special treat to be able to provide the flowers and lighting for the rehearsal dinner. The celebration at the Prouts Neck Country Club was warm, festive and full of love!  On the menu? ….a classic Maine lobster bake complete with bibs and red and white checkered table clothes. Beautiful Days created lovely fresh flower arrangements of peonies, saponaria, mint and strawberries, the fun table number holders of strawberries in jelly jars and we always love an excuse to use our fantastic white enamel tray to display the escort cards. The lighting was a combination of our paper star and asian lanterns which added a festive glow to the party. The super sweet watercolor table numbers from Griffin-vites were the perfect finishing touch.

Prouts Neck, Maine Wedding

Sunday, April 1st, 2012

What better way to start gearing up for Maine wedding season than to reflect back on one of Beautiful Days’ favorite wedding celebrations?! This Prout’s Neck, Maine wedding had everything going for it…idyllic ocean side setting, a fantastic caterer, one of the biggest Sperry tents ever, custom linens and perfect table settings, a get down all night long party band, a wonderful couple with equally wonderful families and design and flowers from Beautiful Days. The overall decor and vibe was seaside, elegant, chic….and  it came together marvelously!

Perfect dress with one of our favorite bouquets! A classic bridal bouquet of peonies, roses, freesia with just a touch of silver dusty miller.

A bride’s best friend? Stunning accessories of course!

What more can a bride and groom ask for?! The backdrop of Scarborough Beach, simple white chairs set up in the round and a simple white birch arbor with a romantic scattering of white petals made for ceremony setting perfection .

A few of the flowers on the arbor I actually cut from a rambling bush of wild roses that day! The bridesmaids perfect in pale pink with peony, rose, sweet pea and dusty miller bouquets. And really – how cute is the ring bearer/dog wrangler?!

GORGEOUS make up from Joya Beauty and simple yet stunning hair from Hair That Moves.

Churchill Events not only served a phenomenal feast but were true professionals right down to the ties and aprons!

It’s all in the details!: The table settings and custom linens from Be Our Guest, custom painted manzanita branches for the table numbers, a little sea holly to complete the napkin, very cool and chic coral pattern linens for service and cocktail tables, simple escort cards with beautiful calligraphy, elegant flower arrangements of hydrangea, roses, freesia and peonies with succulent accemts to add texture and depth in vases lined with mussel shells, a towering cake with blueberry accents and plenty of champagne on ice.

What a night! Everyone danced all night long and it was truly a fantastic celebration!

A Spring Baby Shower!

Tuesday, January 3rd, 2012

It goes with out saying that I love all of my brides! Designing and creating special floral arrangements and party decor for their wedding celebrations is truly an honor. It is extra special when I get to be part of more of their beautiful days! This past spring I was fortunate enough to create a bright, modern and crafty baby shower for dear bride Sarah. I had a ton of fun playing around with bold colors, a mix of fabrics and some local, handmade pottery.

The fabric swags added that extra layer of joy to the festive occasion. I worked with local potter Amy Clark of Ocean Fire Pottery to create these custom white clay vase trios for the centerpieces…perfect for highlighting simple groupings of yellow spring flowers. The vases were then given to VIPs at the end of the party.

Yup that’s me mixing up the party’s cocktail of prosecco, limoncello, and lemonade. It’s no wonder ranunculus are a favorite flower for so many – how it fits soooo many petals in one flower bud is beyond me! Guests were asked to write down some words of mama wisdom which were then read aloud after lunch -yes there were a few tears but alot of laughs too!

I had to include this photo of my gift to Sarah – my son’s gently worn Converses increase the gift wrapping cuteness factor by at least 10! The fresh lemon slices of the party cocktail fit right in with the party’s color scheme of course!

The napkins at each place setting were wrapped with strips of fabric used in the ceiling swags adding another punch of color. I LOVE how clean the vases are and that you can see the texture of Amy’s hand work in the clay from throwing them on the wheel.

The guests were invited to decorate onsesis and burp clothes which a new mama cannot have enough of!

The day really was lovely and the space at the Brixham General Store was the perfect location…sunny, bright and open…and Brixham catered a delicious luncheon for the ladies.
Congratulations to you and your beautiful family Sarah! I hope I’m around for the next celebration!!!
You can get a glimpse of Sarah’s wedding flowers here or see her and her family (pre baby) be the best models ever for a Beautiful Days inspiration shoot here.

A special thanks to Wendy Freedman of New Castle, New Hampshire for the photos, Amy Clark of Ocean Fire Pottery of York, Maine for the collaboration and perfect vases and Brixham General Store of York, Maine for the great spot and fantastic food!
