Happy New Year from Beautiful Days! 2010 was another grand year filled fantastic weddings and celebrations, a lot of creativity and inspiration, hard work and a few moments of calm here and there. I still have so much to share from 2010 but for now here’s a quick peek at what is happening right now…new office space!!! The baseboard and outlets are being put in as I type and we should be moving in at the end of the week. What is currently a white box with alot of Ikea boxes in it will soon be a fantastic space for Beautiful Days to meet clients, get crafty on big work tables, accommodate new Beautiful Days employees and the perfect space for Beautiful Days to continue planning and designing joyful and inspired celebrations.

New Year, New Office!
Monday, January 3rd, 2011Inspiration from the kitchen.
Monday, February 2nd, 2009This past season I was very fortunate to work with Stacey Glassman who is the owner and master of creative cuisine extraordinaire of Swan’s Way Catering. Stacey is not only a fantastic caterer but her creative displays using vegetables, fruits and flowers are so inspiring to me. Taking something as simple as a brussel sprout plant and putting it in a vase is dramatic, organic and beautiful. I think I had Stacey’s vision in the back of my head the otherday as I was taking out some swiss chard to add to the ricotta mix for a lasagna. The dramatic red vein of the plant against the forest green leaf was so graphic and intense and captivating I had to take a photo……this led to my thought of somehow incorporating more unique edibles in my arrangements. In the past I have used limes, apples, dried plant pods, interesting vines and tropical leaves in my floral designs but I am always keeping my eye out for ideas that keep my creative energy flowing. I have a wedding show coming up on February 15 in York and I can’t wait to highlight an arrangement with the vase lined with swiss chard. I also have some ideas about using wired strawberries which I will play with…..so if you’re having a hard time figuring out your colors or finding a special something to make your wedding details unique you may want to have a look in your refrigerator!

Happy New Year!
Thursday, January 1st, 2009How is it already January 1, 2009!? I’m sure all brides out there are wondering the same thing as you start to pull together all your wonderful and creative plans for fantastic weddings in the upcoming months. The holidays are always a perfect time to unplug from the job of planning a wedding but for me as soon as the new year arrives it’s time to recharge and look towards the celebrations on the horizon.
Like most I do have some resolutions – the personal ones are typical…lose weight, exercise more, eat less chocolate (impossible) …I thought I’d share a few resolutions I have for Beautiful Days – maybe they are on your list too as you plan your wedding day…
1: Be inspired – There are so many places to look for inspiration when creating floral and event design. The bridal mags are always a good place to start but home and garden magazines, museums, vendor blogs, a walk outside, your favorite book are all sources that will get your imagination going and come up with the ideas that will set your party apart from the rest. One fantastic site I recommend to all is www.stylemepretty.com …the real weddings, ideas and inspirations posted on a daily basis keep me excited about creating beautiful days for all of my brides.
2. Be balanced – There is always work to be done but I know I am at my best when I make sure to take some time for myself to relax and rejuvinate … as little as 10 minutes to flip thru the latest Martha Stewart Weddings or longer to get outside and take a walk makes a difference in my work and personal life…something brides should remember now that they have taken on planning a wedding on top of what is already a full schedule balancing school and/or work, relationships etc…. if you have some snow in your backyard or a local sledding hill I highly recommend getting out the sled and taking a few runs. It makes you feel like you are eight years old without a care in the world or a wedding for 150 to plan!
All the best to you in 2009!
